The Bluetooth Revolution

Bluetooth is now a common concept when it comes to forms of wireless communication and the transferring of data and vocal transmissions. Most people will recognise the term ‘Bluetooth’ from their cell phones but it has developed through updates to be much more than a cell phone accessory.

Cell phones were the first application to make use of Bluetooth technology, allowing the creation of hands-free headset that didn’t require a wire to connect the phone to the headset. Now most Bluetooth compatible cell phones will come with a free discrete headset that fits snugly into one ear. As you walk around the town, you will probably observe lots of people seemingly talking to themselves, hopefully they aren’t, they probably just have a headset in the ear that you can’t see. This is where most people still use Bluetooth, and Bluetooth car kits are still some of the biggest sellers. Many countries have now banned on the use of cell phones when driving, and so these kits allow drivers to have both hands on the wheel and still keep in touch with people. There are hi-tech versions of the kits that can be wired into the car’s electric circuits, or there are the more low-tech kits that simply plug into the cigarette lighter.

Bluetooth has evolved beyond the cell phone, and now is commonly used in many offices. Wireless networking can be created between computers, and laptops or PDAs can use Bluetooth for dial-up internet use, as long as there is a compatible cell phone to hand. These internet adapters can plug into the USB port for most laptops and computers, although newer computers may have Bluetooth already built into them. Being a wireless protocol, Bluetooth has seen the uptake in other elements of the office as well.

Bluetooth keyboards and mouse are now common features for those wishing to do without wires. Although Bluetooth may only have a limited range, normally of about 30 feet, it is perfect for the office environment. Major manufacturers like Microsoft and HP have started to manufacture Bluetooth system accessories, for professional and personal use. Specifically designed to make computer wires a trend of the past, all that is required is a USB port, an adapter and the necessary keyboard and mouse. These Bluetooth keyboards and mouse though are not just for personal computers, and can be used with PDAs as well.

There is also an increasingly wide range of printers available with Bluetooth compatibility. Bluetooth printers have been around for a while, and come from all of the major printer manufacturers. This used to mean small printers used by travelling salespeople in conjunction with their laptops. They were however, only really useful when it came to the transferring of small amounts of data. Bluetooth has got better technically and now home and office computers from Epson, Canon, Brother and many others can receive data via Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is still spreading its wings through wherever there are conventional wires. The Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii, both utilise Bluetooth for their controllers. In addition to doing away with wires, that always used to get tangled up and a hazard for those walking by, new consoles can also be hooked up to more controllers. The Playstation 3 can even have seven Bluetooth controllers connected to the machine.

How To Find Parts And Accessories For Your Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta has been the corporation’s fastest selling model on the American Market, as it captivates the American consumer more than it does the European ones. Its continued growth and appeal is tied almost directly to the all-important American automobile market.

Throughout Volkswagen’s 50 years in the US it has consistently caught the attention of every type of American consumer; the young, the old, the man, the woman, the rich and the not so rich. Even though VW had a few slips in performance and availability, it has still captured and held the attention of the American driver; much to the chagrin of its rivals.

The Jetta’s completely recreated frame and body now features a longer wheelbase, wider stance, chrome-framed grille in front, and is, undeniably, the new face of VW. Chrome is a recurring feature of the Jetta. Chrome is also employed in the making of the eyebrows above the engine’s air inlets, and on similar models for their side-window surrounds.

There are many stores that can be found online that specialize in Volkswagen parts, including the Jetta’s grille. You need not worry that this quality comes with a hefty price tag. These web stores offer these Jetta parts for the lowest prices and are just a click on the mouse away.

The Volkswagen Jetta’s most appealing attribute is the prominent thrust and slope of the car’s snout. The headlights, inlets, and grilles are all blended into the Jetta’s raked rear flow. At the Jetta’s rear, is a multi-link independent suspension, which greatly enhances the ride and the driver’s control on the road. Jetta’s steering is power assisted. This assistance is electro-mechanical, not hydraulic as some would think.

If you’re in the market for Jetta’s headlights and suspension, online automotive stores feature high caliber parts at low prices. They can assure you that purchasing from them will guarantee 100% customer satisfaction. By using these stores to supply you with your Volkswagen needs, you can experience excellent service staff and easy shopping for your replacement Jetta parts. By using an online store that specializes in Volkswagen parts, you can be assured that the Jetta parts you want are in stock, will be shipped quickly if ordered from the online store, and are perfectly priced for your pocketbook.

Tube Bender Machine – Types and Kinds

Tube or pipe bending is essential in a lot of industries. It can be done with precision and ease with the right machine. While most heavy-duty benders are reserved for bigger industries and machine shops but there are some more affordable and practical that can be used even without much experience.

Because of its equilateral composition, a tube can be bent in multiple angles and directions without losing much tensile strength. A tube can be safely bent anywhere up to 180 degrees. Its openings can also be made to fall on different planes-three-dimensional bending.

In each kind of machine, the process adheres to a basic principle. A tube is loaded into a bender which is clamped into place between two dies. Mechanical force is used to push the pipe against a die which forces it to conform to the shape of the guide. This is often done by rotating or rolling its end around it (die).

The basic principle above is used in the different classes of benders enumerated below. Each bender type is different in the way it applies mechanical force to achieve the bend.

Press bender

Probably the most basic type of bender is the press bender. As the name suggests, mechanical force creates the bend by pressing the tube against a die. The force is usually applied hydraulically or pneumatically, depending on the configuration of the machine. This type of bender can be used on cold pipes but it usually deforms the cross section at the bend to an oval shape due to the lack of internal support.

Rotary draw bender

A rotary draw bender is more precise in its bends because it uses a constant center radius. Counter and former dies work together on both sides of the bend, guiding the tube precisely as it travels the length of the bend. This type of bender creates nice bends that have little to no deformation. Because of this, it is a popular choice for the creation of rails, frames, bike and motorcycle handles, and racing car roll cages.

Heat-induction (method)

While technically not a type of bender, heat-induction is often paired with an external tube bender machine. In heat-induction, heat is induced into the section of the pipe that will be bent. While the pipe is hot, pressure is placed on the pipe via machine. It can also be used on larger pipes that are hard to fit on a bender-petroleum lines, power plants, etc.

Roll benders

A roll bender is different from the other types as it gradually changes the bend radius in the pipe over several passes to the rollers. The rollers usually work in sets of three, sometimes in a pyramid formation where only the topmost moves and applies the force to move the tube and create the bend.

Busting Myths About Tires

People may know a lot about Cars but when it comes to tires, it’s a big zero. Today we will be busting some myths about tires.

Myth: Tires should be inflated according to the pressure indicated on the tire sidewall.
Fact: Indication on the sidewall is the tire’s maximum inflation pressure, not the recommended pressure. Follow inflation pressure recommendations in the Car owner’s manual or written on the door post.

Myth: A tread pattern is required for great traction on dry roads.
Fact: A tire without any tread provides the best results dry traction due to the maximum amount of rubber touching the road. A tread pattern, with its groove voids, actually lessens this traction on dry roads. The role of tread is to act as a squeegee in wet conditions and removes water from under the tyre and channels it through the grooves for improved wet traction.

Myth: Performance tires wear out faster because of the sticky compounds.
Fact: Partly true but tread rubber polymers aren’t the reason. In fact, advancements like new polymers and ultra-tensile steel constructions make performance tires last longer now. Performance tires average about 45,000 miles in tread life, comparable to the figures for family-car passenger t!res. Fast wear is usually due to high speeds and aggressive driving.

Myth: Wide tires provide better traction under all weather conditions. Installing oversize snow tires on a car delivers better snow traction.
Fact: Completely wrong. Wide tires have a tendency float on deep snow, and the tread lugs are unable to dig through to the road surface and gain traction. Narrow tires provide better traction in snow conditions. Narrow tire cut through the snow easier and provides traction.

Myth: All-season tires sufficient for even winter season.
Fact: Can be true for certain regions but in places where snow remains on the roads for days winter tires are the best.

Myth: Tires should not be rotated from side to side, only front to back.
Fact: Radial tires can be crossed from side to side in the rotation pattern unlike the bias ply tires. Regular tire rotation every 6000 to 8000 miles ensures uniform wear for all tires on a vehicle.

Myth: New tires should be put on the drive-wheel position to get the most traction.
Fact: True only on a rear-drive vehicle. Always, install new tires on the rear axle. Most tire buyers purchase new tires for the drive-wheel position to get the most traction. However, by doing so they transfer most of their traction capabilities from the rear. The vehicle is more prone to over steer.

Myth: The government tests tires for traction, temperature resistance, and treadwear and assigns grades molded onto the sidewall.
Fact: Uniform Tire Quality Grading is a federal law that makes it mandatory for tire manufacturers to grade their own tires for tread wear, traction, and temperature resistance. Tire manufacturers test tires and assign their own grades and not some government authority.

Myth: An undulation on a tire sidewall is supposed to be a weak spot and can lead to tire failure.
Fact: An undulation is created where materials overlap each other in the tire carcass, and it actually is the strongest part of the tire.

How To Find That Perfect Automobile

Congratulations! You have decided to take the plunge and purchase an automobile in the Raleigh area. There is nothing like buying a new car (even if it is only new to you). With a bit of preventative maintenance it can be a purchase that will be treasured for years. Just what is the best way to go about acquiring your new car? This is what this article is all about. We would like to provide you with some tips to consider before you actually sign the documents.

The first thing you need to consider is, do you need a car? After a house, an automobile is often the most important thing someone will purchase in their whole life. You need to balance the need and love of buying a car with the reality of paying for it.

Can you afford a car? Don’t think that by filling out documentation and driving away you are free as a bird. There are various facts that you will need to take into consideration before you can say that you can afford a car. Consider: insurance, maintenance and repairs, gas or fuel, parking, and licensing and registration.

Where to purchase the automobile? You should have many choices in this particular category. There are new car dealerships, used car dealerships, rental companies, car superstores, or private owners. Make sure that you inspect the car. This is an extremely vital component in the whole car buying process. You want to make sure you know what you are getting… both the very good and the very bad. Just because the car has a nice new paint job does not mean that there are not problems lurking just under the hood.

Set up a time to meet with the person who is selling the automobile. Get as much preliminary info as you can in order to be well prepared when you arrive to finish the deal. Just why are they selling? How many miles are on the automobile? Do they have all the car’s maintenance records? What does the engine look like? Pull out the dipstick and make sure that there are no solid particles. Make sure that the belts and hoses do not have cracks. Be sure to inspect the driveway. Are there any signs of spillage or leaks? It is a lot harder to conceal car problems if you examine the ground that it is sitting on. Don’t purchase the car at this time. You have yet to examine the automobile’s history.

Be sure to get the car inspected by a mechanic. They can uncover things that you may not have thought of. It should take roughly an hour and can save you a whole lot of grief. Be sure to tell the mechanic what you know about the car so far as this can help her/him in examining certain aspects or issues. Be sure to ask them to rate the condition of the car as excellent, good, fair, or poor.

Come up with the value of the car. Keep in mind that the seller is most likely going to request more money than the auto is worth. Keep in mind that the Kelley Blue Book is a wonderful place to find a value that you can utilize as a starting point for your negotiations.

Come up with a price for the auto. Show the person selling the automobile the research you have established as why you think the automobile is worth the amount you are offering. You might like to bring a friend to assist you in coming up with a reasonable price. Purchase the automobile.

Be sure to get the sale in writing. Double check to be sure that this piece of paper includes all that is being sold, and the actual terms of the sale. Do not purchase the automobile or put any money down without having the title of the automobile signed over to you. This is the document that shows you actually own the auto.

That’s it…some very simple steps to purchasing a new vehicle. With a bit of research by you there is no reason that you cannot come out of the whole process a delighted new car owner. Happy driving!
